The separation or integration of linguistic levels or skills; the comparison of different methods as represented by different published courses ; the effect of differing sequences of language on learning; the teaching of pronunciation with and without phonetic training and fistfreaks and without the use of transcription; the effectiveness of visual and auditory modes of presentation; the relation of age to method? The list could be extended to several times its present length without difficulty and even so one could not be sure that one had included all the factors that are relevant in dildo action. Still, even if the list is incomplete, one would be very happy if it were possible to conduct research that would establish the significance of the factors one had identified.

However, it is the very multiplicity of factors involved in learning that makes it difficult for such research to be carried out. If we wish to study the effects of only one variable, it is necessary to hold all the others constant and in any real fist freaks situation this is difficult, if not impossible. If one attempts to take these problems into account and compares not isolated factors but groups of variables, it becomes impossible to decide which of the factors is responsible for the results one has obtained. In any case what might be called linguistic factors, such as those listed above, are by no means the only significant variables in the experimental situation.
